Radiation Seeds

A revolutionary treatment intended to prevent stented heart vessels from reclogging is now available at Genesis Medical Center. Four area residents underwent radiation seed therapy today - a procedure that uses seeds of gamma radiation to kill the scar tissue that has built up inside a previously opened artery. (Originally posted 12/18/01)

Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) Trial 
For more than 30 years, Mike Raes of Davenport, suffered from irregular heartbeats that shook his body so violently that at times someone would have to throw themselves on top of him to help control the tremors. Genesis Helps City of Bettendorf Become A Heart-Safe Community
Bettendorf, IA --- When sudden cardiac arrest (S
CA) strikes, seconds count. With every passing minute before treatment, the chance of survival decreases by about 10 percent. Most SCA cases are treatable. But the survival rate drops to less than 2 percent after only 10 minutes, even with CPR. (Originally posted 9/6/01)

Philip D. and Henrietta B. Adler Education Center
A state-of-the-art Education Center now under construction at Genesis Medical Center's East campus will be named in memory of Philip D. and Henrietta B. Adler, two lifelong philanthropists whose generous bequest will help make the center a reality.
