Successful Lipid
Conference Held
(Posted 1/26/06)
Dr.
Nicolas Shammas was recently the moderator for the Lipid Conference
- a Point-Counterpoint Conference - which was held in Davenport on
January 13, 2006. The conference was jointly sponsored by
Genesis Medical Center and the Midwest Cardiovascular Research
Foundation (MCRF) and was attended by over 75 physicians and nurse
practitioners.
The conference featured Dr. Peter Toth from Sterling, Illinois,
Director of the Preventative Program at CGH Medical Center, and Dr.
James Liao, Director of Vascular Research at Harvard Medical
School. The two lectures are available for viewing on the MCRF
Web site at: www.mcrfmd.com
(under Education Center).
Given the tremendous success of this conference, MCRF will be
planning a series of conferences in the city this year.
MCRF, a non-profit organization, founded by Nicolas Shammas has
already launched a series of CME conferences including its annual
Cardiovascular Interventions and Practice Guidelines (CIPG)
Conference, the Clinical Research Conference, and now the
Point-Counterpoint Conferences with cumulative attendees of over 500
health care providers over the past two years. MCRF strives
for objectivity in its conferences to bring balanced and unbiased
education to our community. The two major formats that the
foundation has adopted to achieve this goals in its CME programs are
1.) a focus on guidelines, and 2.) point-counterpoint
presentations.
